GETTING AROUND TORONTO

Getting around in this pretty city is easy. There are lots of ways to explore Toronto: you can walk, ride a bike, or take the TTC.

The TTC (Toronto Transit Commission) is the public transportation system in Toronto. It includes buses, subways, and streetcars. Here are some things you should know:

  • You can pay for your TTC ride with exact cash, a token, or a pass. You can find the prices on their website.

  • If you need to switch from one bus or train to another, make sure to get a transfer when you pay for your first ride.

  • It might be cheaper to get a monthly metropass if you use the TTC every day, especially if you’re a UMS Healthcare College student. They offer a discounted Student Metropass. Visit their website.

  • You can also use a Presto card for public transportation. It’s handy if you use other transit systems like GO Transit. Just load money onto the card and tap it when you get on a bus or train. You can find more information on their website.

  • Before you go, it’s a good idea to plan your trip. You can use the TTC’s Trip Planner. It will tell you how to get where you want to go, including which buses or trains to take and when they come. If you’re not sure, you can always ask the driver for help.
