PROGRAM OUTLINE
Students gain foundational knowledge and hands-on experience in:

HSW Foundations – Understanding client needs, rights, and interests.

Safety & Mobility – Assisting with transfers, positioning, and safe movement.
-
Body Systems – Basic anatomy and physiology.
-
Personal Hygiene – Supporting clients with hygiene care.
-
Abuse & Neglect Awareness – Identifying and responding to abuse situations.
-
Household Management & Nutrition – Meal preparation, grocery shopping, and hydration needs.
-
Care Planning & Documentation – Supporting client independence and electronic documentation.
-
End-of-Life Care – Understanding palliative care and hospice support.
-
Cognitive & Mental Health Support – Assisting clients with dementia, brain injuries, and mental health challenges.

Practicum (100 Hours) – Hands-on field placement for real-world experience.
You will have hands on experience using your knowledge from the theory and skills learned in the classroom during the next part of your program. A clinical instructor will be with the students for 100 hours of clinical placement in a community facility setting.
After completion of all requirements, you will be able to take the HSW Final Certification Exam given by the National Association of Career Colleges (NACC).
